1966 Chevrolet C30 Crew Cab
In May 2000 we took a little vacation and while cruising down I-64 in southern Illinois we pulled off the interstate in Mount Vernon to gas up the rental car. As we headed back to get on the freeway I caught out of the corner of my eye something I had never seen in person before. A '66 crew cab. It was in the weeds and hadn't been licensed since 1994. It looked like it been used as a tow truck. And surprisingly it wasn't rusty!
In the June 1998 issue of Classic Trucks Magazine there was a feature article on a restored '65 crew cab. The picture below is from that article. Apparently only two companies built the crew cab for Chevrolet: Orville Metal Specialty Company and the Crown Company. Crown produced 500 crew cabs a year for Ford, Chevrolet and GMC pickups. Approximately 100-125 were Chevrolets. I have no idea who made this jewel.

Wouldn't this be a fun project??!!
Here's a nice home-made 2-door crew cab that lives in Cedar City, Utah and is a member of the Great Mountain Chevy/GMC Truck Association.
