Tote Gote
This is a Bonham Tote Gote Model 600 that was manufactured in about 1962. The original engine was a Briggs and Stratton single cylinder 6-1/2 horse power. For dependability and cost reasons it was replaced by a 212 cc, 6-1/2 hp, single cylinder Predator engine.

Many pictures were taken  before disassembly so That everything could be put back together properly.

One interesting assembly was the twist grip for throttle operation. A very clever arrangement which probably wouldn't even be considered today with the wide availability of ready-made components. We went with a modern thumb throttle.

After complete disassembly, the components were cleaned thoroughly and then coated with a good coat of primer. Before putting on the finish coats of paint, the bike was completely assembled to make sure that everything fit and functioned properly. New cables were installed for front and rear brakes and a new thumb throttle assembly was adapted to the new Predator motor.

Unfortunately the bike did not come with the side guards so they had to be fabricated. In all the pictures that could be found on the internet it was impossible to tell how the guards were attached to the frame. A helpful Gote Brother was kind enough to send me an actual drawing of a Tote Gote guard as well as photos. I used conduit clamps from the local hardware store to fashion clips that would work similar to originals and welded them in place on the guards I fabricated.
